Jürgen Schneidt: someone truly dedicated to those most in need

We would like to express our sincere condolences for the loss of Jürgen Schneidt, the founder of the Orphanage “KinderHilfe” and staunch supporter of the San Roque Elementary School in the Philippines. Jürgen helped the Child & Family Foundation to renovate the San Roque Elementary School in 2011 and, since then, has remained vital point of reference and friend to the team. He has been an example of someone who was truly dedicated to those most in need and his generosity touched the lives of hundreds of children and families.

The “KinderHilfe Philippinen e.V.” was founded in 1985 in Padre Burgos, on the island of Leyte in the Philippines, and the construction of the orphanage began in 1986. Approximately 100 orphaned children, many of whom have been abused, come from the poorest backgrounds and suffer from a range of complex illnesses are taken care of at the orphanage. There, they receive shelter, an education, food, medical treatment and anything else they require to ensure their personal wellbeing.

When the Child & Family Foundation started collaborating with the San Roque Elementary School, Jürgen was a trusted project partner, colleague and committed ally on-site. He was already incredibly busy running his own organisation and helping the orphanage’s children and was, nevertheless, ready to share his expertise and extensive experience in order to improve the school’s conditions, despite it not being his responsibility. Over the years, the Child & Family Foundation team members remained friends with Jürgen and, on visiting the school, discussed the future of the children of Padre Burgos whilst enjoying a cup of coffee at his home and spending time at the orphanage.
