Project Description

The artistic festival “Himmelhoch” (As high as the sky) – artistic course and festival for children – took place from 3rd to 9th August 2009 in Szováta in Romania. The festival was a joint project by the Zanotta Art Association, the Lyoness Child & Family Foundation and the St. Francis Foundation, which especially cares for disadvantaged children. By means of artistic education, the festival aimed to teach deprived children how to develop several skills and values such as self-assessment, self-management and occupational orientation as well as how to master mental problems.

The successful event lasted for one week and offered courses in painting, glass art, wood carving, film production, singing and media communications alongside theatre productions and concerts. Additionally, a fantasy village with tradesmen/-women and craftsmen/-women was created in which the children could learn traditional art by means of games and contests. The courses were held by nine famous actors from different countries. Visitors had free access to all festival events and courses.

Project Goals

Promoting the artistic education, self-evaluation and self-management of psychologically challenged children. Helping them with occupational orientation as well as how to deal with problems.
