The flight team: since 2002 the Hohenems airport has organised the Children’s Flight Day for socially disadvantaged and seriously ill children. As usual, the event was organised in cooperation with the Stunde des Herzens aid organisation and aimed at fulfilling the dreams of those children (whose biggest wish was to go on a plane) who receive help from the social organisations Stiftung Jupident, Verein Sonnenblume, Kinderkrebshilfe, Caritas, Lebenshilfe, Huckepack4kids, SOS Kinderdorf and Ein Netz für Kinder.
The ‟Fly for kids” project was supported by eight pilot associations, four private aircraft owners and the passionate Hohenems pilots, who did not only ensure a smooth run but also sponsored many flights themselves.
In 2013 the Lyoness Child & Family Foundations supported this project for the third time by providing an aircraft for additional flights with the children. In addition, the CFF also had its own booth where little visitors had the chance to paint-shirts and caps. This year, more than 400 children were able to take part in this unique flight experience.
The ‟Fly for kids” project aims at giving socially disadvantaged and ill children the opportunity to fulfil their dreams of flying.
The accompanying doctors at ‟Fly for kids” refer to an actual ‟flight therapy” as this special experience seems to positively influence numerous disorders and symptoms for a certain time. The Child & Family Foundation supported this project to enable even more children to participate in this special experience and to positively contribute to their healing process.
