The "Sirdsgaisma“ and LLC "Bernu Oazes" Advisory Day Centre "Tornakalns" Organisations care for over 200 disadvantaged children. Both Organisations aim to care for children who cannot be properly cared for by their own families, and to provide them with support to live an independent life. Although the two Organisations are extremely versatile, they often don't have enough money to finance outings or to be able to provide the children and youths with meaningful recreational activities.
Lyoness Lettland (Latvia) and the Lyoness Child & Family Foundation Organisation teamed up with dedicated Loyalty Merchants, Lyconet Marketers and Members to provide a special day for 20 children to give them a break from their every day lives.
The planning of the event started long before the event took place. The local Lyoness and Lyconet Community were motivated to help on the day and they began to arrange a diverse and educational day for the children.
By 7 October 2015 everything was finally ready. The day began with a trip to the "Maxima" supermarket chain logistics centre, which is one of the biggest Lyoness Loyalty Merchants in Latvia. Everything was ready for when the children arrived and they had arranged something extra special: the children got to take a look behind the scenes of the huge warehouse. The tour through the warehouse and the sheer dimensions of the huge building itself and all the shelving amazed the children - as did the small gifts they received at the end of the tour.
With all these new memories going round in their heads, the children then had pizza and drinks together at Loyalty Merchant "Cili Pica". Games had been organised for the children, for which they could win small prizes. Following the games, the next big highlight of the day awaited the children - a trip to the Railway Museum. Upon arrival, the children were greeted by professional Museum Guides, who gave the children an introduction into the correct conduct whilst at a train station (Do's and Don'ts) and explained the history of railways in Latvia. The children were overjoyed when they got to climb onboard the old trains, enabling them to take a trip back in time to learn the history of the Latvian railways.
After these two fun outings, they moved on to the "Lucasvala" park where professional body painting artists painted their faces with motifs such as Spiderman or Batman, and there was still enough time left to play together. At the end of the day, the children were very grateful when they received small gifts and accepted them with huge smiles on their faces. It was clear to see at this point how well the group had bonded throughout the day.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the event possible. Without the support of all the dedicated volunteers from our Community many children wouldn't be able to experience special days such as this one.
A special thank you goes out to:
