On Sunday 9 August 2015, the first Angel for a Day event took place in Canada.
Over 70 people took part in the event, including a number of volunteers from the Lyoness Canada Inc. office, Loyalty Merchants, and the CEO of Lyoness America Inc., Iain Bratt. The event was organized to provide support for the Cherish Integrated Service organization and the children and adults they look after, who have fewer opportunities than the rest of us due to development disabilities or neurological diseases. The organization provides round-the-clock support to help them tackle day-to-day life, while also relieving the strain on their families.
The day started with an exciting trip across to Toronto Island on a water taxi provided by Spike in the Water. Many of the group had never been in a boat or travelled across the sea before. Arriving on the island, it was time for the adventure to really begin: the group were able to explore the island, play together, take part in group activities and just enjoy the each other's company.
One of the highlights on the island was the group comic book activity. With the support of their helpers, the children and young people received a professional lesson in comic book drawing by the creative team from Amber Animations.
After all the excitement and new experiences, the group sat down to a well-earned lunch. And it wasn't just any old lunch - the group enjoyed a wonderful picnic lovingly prepared by Lyoness Loyalty Merchants Cataldi Fresh Market, The Baker's Table, Fukui Japanese Restaurant and Scouts Canada.
Feeling refreshed, the group then headed back to the mainland where it was time to start the next adventure. The entire group visited Maple Nissan where the children were given the chance to sit in cool cars, imagining they were in their own car race while getting photographed along the way.
The final item on the day's agenda was a trip to Koganei Japanese Restaurant, where the children were joined by the volunteers involved in the day for a meal that they would never forget.
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who made Canada's first Angel for a Day event possible. It was great to see our community come together to create such a wonderful day.
We'd like to say an extra special thank you to the Lyoness Loyalty Merchants:

We would also like to thank the team at Lyoness Canada Inc., particularly Sara Yang, who was responsible for organizing this very special day. We would also like to warmly thank:
The aim for the day was to create an action-packed day for children and adults who normally wouldn't get the chance to take part in so many activities due to their special care requirements. A lot of carers and volunteers were brought in to help make sure that the day was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
