Support for Job hunt in Italy

More success in the job application process: IT infrastructure for disadvantaged mothers, children and adolescents

Computer, internet, smartphones - such information technology has become indispensable in our daily lives. However, many still do not have access. These people will now receive support from the Child & Family Foundation.

Nowadays, life without a computer and internet is a great challenge and can have a grave impact. Together with the Child & Family Foundation, the Italian foundation "O.N.L.U.S. – Fondazione Onlus Saverio De Bellis“ has established an infrastructure that supports children and adolescents in need and single mothers looking for employment.

Life without a computer

Most adolescents cannot remember a time before digitalisation. They cannot imagine a life without a smartphone, computer, social media, gaming and streaming. While many people in Central Europe are fighting their smartphone dependency, there are children, adolescents and women that do not have access to our digitalised world of smartphones, computers and the internet.
One could suppose that the concept of a carefree childhood without digital entertainment would benefit society. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. Not having access to information technology greatly influences one's daily life. Only a small percentage of all jobs are still listed in the newspapers, and fewer employers are pleased to receive a creative application written by hand. Limited access to a computer, internet and printer can complicate the job search, creation of application documents as well as communication with potential employers and thereby constitutes a difficult hurdle on the path to finding a job.

Technical infrastructure for a better future

The Child & Family Foundation and those responsible at the "O.N.L.U.S. – Fondazione Onlus Saverio De Bellis" have recognised this need and wished to provide the women, children and adolescents from the foundation with the respective IT infrastructure. The foundation and the beneficiaries also received several computers including the relevant software and printers. The new machines should support them in their application process and can be used together with the foundation's carers.
The provision of such information technology enables the women, children and adolescents to find an appropriate place of work and build a successful future.
